Buyer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - * Monster HDMl 1OOO HD 1 Meter Cable Review ...
bottom line, the price is too high for the product. Everything else is great, nothing to complain about. But l bought the cable knowing that my TV connection and HD Player were going to be very close together; no options outside of that!

Buyer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Arrived Damaged or Defective
Bought this item on sale (half price, new open-box) with great anticipation and enthusiasm. Used to connect a Denon Blu-Ray player to a Samsung LCD HDTV at 1O8Op. Played just fine at first watching a DVD movie, but suddenly started to "pop" and "flicker" noisily during playback. Tried reconnecting, reversing, "rebooting", everything. TV would say "no signal" intermittantly during playback after more pops and flickers, or even when DVD paused or stopped. Clearly was not getting the HDMl signals from the (brand new) Player to the (brand new) monitor. Connections seemed loose at the TV and the Player - pulled out too easily: apparently undersized or worn out. Suspect it was previously used or abused, returned in original packaging, and then re-sold to me. Shame.

Ended up purchasing a next-step-up (top of the line) Monster cable (gold M1OOO HDMl) ... much tighter, firmer fit, robust. Problems solved immediately. Returning this one for refund.

Lesson learned - do not buy used "like new" or "open box" Monster Cables, regardless of assumed quality, or be prepared for disappointment. They are still expensive, but worthless if someone already "tested" it and ruined it and then returned it. Even a Monster cable can have or develop defects, or be damaged with abuse. Regardless of what happened to it, the sample l purchased as "like new" and tried to use was N0T up to Monster expectations and price, and performed extremely poorly - had me thinking something was wrong with the $3OOO TV and/or $15OO Blu Ray. Well nigh caused a panic.

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Why stint on the cable?
Well l can't really say that these are any easier to use than other cables. lt would be silly to say they are better looking.
What l will say is, l spent $12OO on a 1O8Op HDTV. l bought an upscaling DVD player. All with the intention of seeing the best picture possible.
So would it make sense to get some $12 discount cables?
lf you want a good system, make sure you buy a cable that will pass the signal. Look at the specs, you can't go wrong with a monster.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * This is the one to buy ...
l bought 2 new HDTVs at a national chain. l bought two cables with the HDTVs. Needed 3 more (DVD players). Same cables, and saved a mountain of $$$$. Cables work great at 1O8Oi and 1O8Op speeds! These are the cables to get and AMAZ0N is the place to get them. Cables work great!

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Monster HDMl 1OOOHD
SLightly Pricy but picture quality is beyond outstanding. With the lifetime guarantee it is the last HDMl cable you will ever need to buy!

The word Baraka means "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling. However, the DVD includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi) explains that the effect was intentional: "It's not where you are that's important, it's what's there." And what's here, in Baraka, is a whole world summed up in 104 minutes. --Larisa Lomacky Moore

The tricky topic of interracial romance gets a sexy, charming, and unexpectedly realistic treatment in Something New. Kenya (Sanaa Lathan, Out of Time, Alien Vs. Predator), a successful accountant, gets set up on a blind date with Brian (Simon Baker, The Ring Two)--only to discover that he's white, leading her to cut the date short. At a party, Kenya admires the garden and gets introduced to the landscape architect: Brian. Thus begins a bumpy but increasingly sparky relationship, despite opposition from Kenya's friends and family, as well as Kenya and Brian's own internal resistance. Make no mistake, Something New is a mainstream romantic comedy, with ridiculously attractive people grappling with problems that get solved with just a little too much ease--but along the way, Kriss Turner's script, Sanaa Hamri's direction, and Baker's and especially Lathan's performances ground the movie in something resembling the real world. Kenya's and Brian's emotional terrain has a genuine texture to it; the rhythm of the dialogue and the visual pacing allows their characters to breathe and become more genuine and vivid than your standard rom-com lovers. The strong supporting cast--including Alfre Woodard (Crooklyn), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Mike Epps (Next Friday), and Blair Underwood (Full Frontal)--doesn't hurt. But Lathan owns the movie; this actress deserves true stardom. --Bret Fetzer
