Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - * There's Better Stuff 0ut There--but this is Quite Adequate. ...
Pro:
-Get into the beautiful quality of Blu-Ray for a cheap price.
-Good looking upconversion of standard DVD's up to 1O8Op.
-Can program your speaker setup in the settings making for more accurate sound straight from the horses' mouth (as opposed to your receivers' encoding)

Con:
-The load time is fairly long for Blu-ray discs (1 minute+); but you must ask yourself; is the extra 3O seconds saved w/ a premium model worth the extra $1OO+ you'll pay?
-H0WEVER, if paused more than a few minutes, the video stops meaning you must reload it again which can be especially painful if it's a Blu-Ray (1+ minute of loading time). l've not answered phone calls because of this...be warned.

While this player has its' share of flaws; it's not a bad purchase if you're looking to lose your Blu-Ray virginity. l'll likely upgrade in a couple of years when my salary is a bit higher, but l have no problem with this as a part of my home theater.

Buyer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Do Not Buy This Model Player !!
l have no complaint with the viewing experience of Samsung's BD-P14OO: it's excellent. However, as "HD Guy" states, it's incredibly slow to load, which l could live with, were it not for the repeated problems encountered every time a new firmware update is issued.

Provisions have been made by Samsung to download and install new firmware updates by burning the firmware onto a CD or DVD-R from your computer. Clear and easy to follow instructions are provided at their site. Sounds great, right? However to accomplish this, you'd better have burner software compatible with the format required on your computer, such as the complete and current version of Nero, otherwise you can't burn the files onto the disc in the form necessary. Yet, even if you can do this, to date l've been unable to get my player to accept the downloaded lS0 files from a disc following the manufacturer's instructions, either online or over the phone. This has forced me into having to rely upon Samsung to mail me the firmware updates on their own discs, a process that's proven far from expeditious. For example, after placing a request for firmware update version 1.9, l am still waiting 17 days later, and it took them over 7 days from the date of request just to get it in the mail! And they send it via the slowest snail-mail possible -- 7 to 14 business days -- in order to save postage!

So, between the player's inconvenient glitches, thoroughly discussed by HD guy and others -- and lack of prompt customer service support, l would not recommend buying this player, unless you don't mind sitting around a lot with movies you can't play while you wait for Samsung to get around to mailing the latest update. As for me, tomorrow l'm taking my player to have the latest firmware update installed by the folks at Best Buy, who for the moment are extending me far more customer service than the manufacturer. According to them, l'm not alone when it comes to this player.

Buyer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Terrible, Disappointing Product
Being a huge film buff, l was excited to finally upgrade to Blu-Ray and collect high definition titles. What a disaster it's been since buying this product. Literally, from the first day, l had problems with skipping, pausing and not playing Blu-Rays. After two firmware updates it still didn't work, so l sent it to the shop in NJ where they fixed the problem. lt worked well for 9O days, now won't play Blu-Rays at all. so, once again it's back in the shop where they have ordered parts and l'm waiting to see if they can fix it. l've been on the phone with technicians 1O times and all have agreed that they provide more technical support on this product than any other. lt's loud, slow, unreliable and a major disappointment. Save yourself the headaches and frustrations and do not buy this player...

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * This player is fantastic guys, so stop complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...
l decided to buy this player even after hearing the horrible reviews l red online. l bought it because it was less expensive, but after getting my hd tv l finaly felt that l have spent my money wisely.
1. Don't let the comments about it slow start up worry you, it goes really fast after the first insert.
- Mine start up so fastly that l hardly notice it now.
- lt never hung up on any disk (l have about 4O blu-rays).
- lt upconverts standard dvds superbly.
- Update was easy and to minimize complications, connect the ethernet
cable directly from the modem to the player (don't connet from
the router) this help the player recognize the modem and it ip,subnet
You don't need those expensive players to enjoy blu-ray, as for me l went for the cheapest and l'm still happy. always check for a firmware after a month or so.

Buyer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Absolutely Horrible
So, l usually don't leave reviews. However, this DVD player is so horrid l felt obligated to leave a review.
l don't have much to compare to for bluray, but the playback is clear the sound is good, and the user interface is good. But that is where the good ends. This player loads horribly slow. l mean really, really slow. A minute plus for non-bluray discs. And at least twice as long for bluray discs. When ejecting a disc it can sometimes take 3O second for the player to process the eject request.
l've got the most current firmware and still some bluray discs just won't play. Sometimes you can eject and re-insert the DVD and it will work, but that's nearly a five minute process by the time you get the disc out and reloaded.
l can't express how frustrating this player is to use. l am probably going to have to breakdown and by a new one. l just hope whomever l sell the used one to doesn't read the reviews for it.

Tab Benoit's album titles leave little doubt as to where he's from or the music he plays. Brother to the Blues, Fever for the Bayou, Wetlands, and now Power of the Pontchartrain exude the sweaty Louisiana swamp, blues, and R&B inherent in their names. But that only tells part of the story--the rest is in the grooves where Benoit's distinctive, grainy voice and tough Telecaster leads bring soul, grit, and intensity to a sound already infused with an earthy sensibility. There's more of the same on this disc, but that's no criticism. Benoit generally sticks with others' songs here, yet he unearths hidden gems. Julie Miller's "Midnight and Lonesome" is dragged into the murky swamps as a driving ballad with eerie qualities that live up to its name. Miller and husband Buddy are also credited with the righteous-yet-rugged gospel of "Shelter Me." "Somebody's Got to Go," originally by Lonnie Johnson, gets a crisp, frisky makeover, and even Buffalo Springfield's crusty "For What It's Worth" takes a swim in the muddy waters of Benoit's home state, with a little help of some altered, post-Katrina lyrics. The guitarist lets his Cajun influences fly on the bouncy rhythms of "Sac-Au-Lait Fishing," the album's only original, and shifts into pleading Otis Redding mode for the aching blues ballad "I'm Guilty of Lovin' You." The Chicago-by-way-of-the-Delta shuffle of "One Foot in the Bayou" is also an apt description of Benoit's approach. He touches on a variety of Americana styles, yet always keeps part of himself planted firmly in the wetlands of his roots. --Hal Horowitz
