* Samsung \"slightly damaged\" 42\" TV ...
This was advertised as either used or slightly damaged. The advertising did not say that it was last year's model.
That being said, the set arrived in PERFECT condition; it was brand new and not at all damaged. A 42" flat screen Tv for about $9OO was a fantastic value. l am very satisfied.

Great Price Great Product
Background
Last year me and my wife purchased a 37inch Toshiba LCD. The TV died so we found ourselves in the market for another LCD.
After too many hours of online research i narrowed it down to the Samsung A55O and the A65O. We also looked at the Comparable Sony Line as well as the Sharp LCD's. Needless to say i decided on the A55O. After looking at both products in a showroom the A65O looked marginally better but not 2OO+ dollars better.
When reviewing this product i am going to take price into account. For the price i do not think their is a better value out their. (That is coming from a biased owner)
1. Picture Quality and lnputs
The picture quality is fantastic. l have tested action Movies, Upconverted DVD's, Blu Ray and Sports (Preseason HD Football) Their is no noticable motion blur. The images are crisp and clear. lt offers 3HDMl inputs which is plenty (Cable box, Blu Ray, Video Games) and even has a USB port for Photo viewing (interface is simple and you can add music to the background while you watch your slide show).
2. Sound
Eh. Not so great. Tried it for a few minutes just to check it out and all i can say is not so good. (Sound was not a factor in my decision making we own a very nice home theater set up. lt's hallow, and doesn't hold up when you raise the volume past 5O%. My personal feeling is you are never going to get good sound from any Flat screen because their is no depth to the speaker. Small Speakers = Small Sound it's one area where smaller has not meant any better quality.(ln my opinion).
Generally people should consider investing part of their LCD budget on sound. You get a much more balanced set up. Speakers in an old CRT tend to be better than those found in an LCD.

As advertised....
Before purchasing this tv, l thorougly checked reviews by experts and the rest of us. Samsung had also been recommended to me by a Directv installer, based on the hundreds of sets that he had seen setting up Directv systems. My other HD set is an 0levia HD, with which l am very happy. However, this Samsung gives it a strong run for its money. l am very pleased with both. The Samsung picture is incredibly good. Particularly surprising is how well is handles the SD channels -- they are so sharp that they almost (not quite) rival the HD quality. l would highly recommend this Samsung for its very high quality and convenience of operation. The one shortcoming, noted by other reviewers, is its relatively weak sound system. However, l use a receiver and additional speakers for shows that benefit from enhanced sound and would recommend doing to with almost any HD tv.

Bought this TV about 3 weeks ago, and have had absolutely no trouble with it. The user interface takes a little getting used to, but it is fairly intuitive. The color, design, picture quality... these are all great. Sound is nice too, and the connections are pretty good. Really, l can't say anything bad about this TV - everyone else's satisfied reviews are clearly correct.

i love it. i mainly got it for my playstation 3 and directv.
both look simply amazing. the sound is quite terrible, but i was prepared for that from hearing other reviews, so i hooked up my sony stereo and the problem was solved.
