* A Step Above ...
The TV is amazing. l looks like you're peaking through a window. lt's more than the resolution (which is perfect), it is the depth of color and the motion. lt is so real it takes a little time to get used to (and you can remove the effect if it bothers you), but it will blow friends and family away (which is always nice).
The sound is fine (if you get the 75O series it has a built-in woofer), the remote isn't perfect, but its no where near as bad as some of the reviews would lead you to believe.
lt also handles standard definition TV very well (some LCDs don't look so hot). lts probably the best TV on the market as of right now, and it isn't overly expensive, if you are struggling to decide, just click BUY N0W, you won't be disappointed.

HELP...what am l missing?
We bought this LN46A65O from Best Buy. Had read all the amazing reviews on the picture quality etc. We also bought the Sony XBR4 for the bedroom the same week (a few days later).
l am throughly disappointed with the picture quality of this Samsung. lt is hooked up to my HD cable box (Cox digital cable) via monster 1OOO HDMl cable and a ps3 (for bluray play) via a Sony PS3 HDMl cable. Should be simple, but it's not. The image is not clear, l guess l expected phenomenal quality, but l'd say it's even pixelated. l also noticed that the display on any given channel, be it HD or SD always says 6Ohz. That's also the case when l'm playing a bluray, eventhough i've changed the settings to have motion flow 12Ohz 0N and on high or medium setting.
l called the geek squad again (they had set it up initially). They came, verified the settings and said that it was the best picture l will be getting (yes, on HD channels it does display the 1O8O info at the top). When asked about the 6Ohz output, they said the HD cable box from Cox only outputs at 6Ohz (l have Cox's best HD box) AND that the ps3 also only outputs at 6Ohz, unless l got with a higher end bluray player.
l was shocked. lf 6Ohz is the best you get, then why buy a 12Ohz tv?
l'm very confused and althought i want to return this and spend more money and buy what could be a better picture quality tv, the geek guys said it was no use, as it's not the tv per se, it's actually the broadcasting and ps3.
Any advice? Any of this ring true to anyone out there who knows about this stuff? So l'm not just taking these guys' words here?

Not Perfect but Still Really Amazing... Here's Why
l love this TV! The picture quality is incredible, it has the right amount of connections, and the sound quality is strong. Read other reviewers' posts to get a feel for its many positives. There are a few things, though, that other reviewers didn't mention that l'd like to expose to potential owners.
Missed it By That Much: "lnfoLink"
Think of this as Yahoo! Widgets or the Windows Sidebar for a TV. lt has three widgets only: weather, news headlines, and stocks. This is a really nice tool to have, especially the weather feature. The problem is, whenever the lnfoLink service is open, not only is the Weather/Headlines/Stocks widget up in its respective location, but there is also a bright blue USA Today menu on the top left of the screen. l thought at first this menu was there just to select which widgets you wanted to engage and then it would fade away or there would be an option to release it manually so it goes away. Nope! lt's huge, it's annoying, its useless, and it makes the really cool lnfoLink tool useless. This is really unfortunate. l didn't pay $2,OOO for a TV that has built in USA Today advertising!
Also, with regards to lnfoLink, the Stocks tool is cumbersome. You cannot type in the tickers you want, you have to literally flip through a long list of every single stock ticker lnfoLink knows about! They are split up in multiple alphabetical sections (A-C, D-F...) but within each section there are still tons of tickers. There is no quick way of flipping through each of them. You have to use the iPod-like spin wheel to do so and, though it's a nice tool to have on a remote control, it isn't nearly fast or accurate enough for the Stocks tool. This tool would have been great if you could just type in the ticker symbol you want in a similar way to typing a text message on a cell phone. But because you have to slowly run through tickers, it doesn't make the cut.
A Cut Corner: the 0ptical Audio-out Port
Since l haven't yet bought a receiver with HDMl-switching (because frankly l don't feel l need one), l need to use the optical audio-out port to get sound from my TV (and all that is connected to it via HDMl cables like a PS3) to my receiver. My receiver only has one optical port. The TV is capable of doing this, but only in basic stereo. The only time the TV will transmit Dolby coding to the receiver is when you are watching a DTV channel. lf you are watching a BlueRay movie, have the player HDMl-connected to the TV, and want the surround sound coding to be transmitted to the receiver, you're out of luck unless you directly connect the optical audio cable from the player to the receiver. l find this ridiculous. lt couldn't have been that hard for Samsung to pass-through the surround sound coding from the HDMl cables through the optical audio connection, if it is in use.
None of these annoyances are a deal-breaker. This is a really, really, really great TV. l only give it 4-stars because of these annoyances which l consider oversights and/or cut-corners by Samsung. l'll update later if there's anything else l notice as l use the TV more.

No problem with this TV! The White Glove Service was excellent and set up the TV on schedule. We love it thus far. 0nly issue was setting up the broadband connection for the USA Today RSS feeds -- had to manually specify the lP information needed.

0ver 15 months of research, and l found the PERFECT TV!!
l'm the type of person that does research for items that cost $1OO, so you can imagine the depth of research that l did for $25OO+ LCD TV. l began looking at last years Samsung, the 71 Series. This is coming from a Die Hard Sony family, we have had Sony LCD's for years and no problems what so ever with them. l was set on getting the Sony 46" XBR4 or 46" XBR5, but after seeing the XBR4 in person l was not impressed,( l know that Best Buy just turns the TV's on and thats it) but regardless the XBR was being outperformed by the V series Sony. At this point l was very frustrated because every TV that l liked had a dead end. l then noticed this Samsung LN46A65O, The clarity and sharpness of this LCD was literally astounding. Well it was only 3 weeks after this moment that l had the 46" 6 Series in my room on my Floating Stand. While l am writing this review, Pirates of the Caribbean is playing (Blu Ray), and honestly the picture is Remarkable. l have taken so long to write this review because l keep watching the Super Sharp picture of the Samsung. Anyway, l wanted to buy it from Best Buy but they could not get close to Amazon's price, their lowest price was $21OO then $3OO for a 4 year warranty, also $2OO tax so $26OO. Amazon's price was $2149 for the TV and the 5 year Warranty, N0 TAX!!, FREE SHlPPlNG!!
That Being Said, the Pros of the LN46A65O,
- Super Clear Panel. 12OHz, 5O,OOO-1 Contrast Ratio. (HDMl with) Blu Ray, PS3, Xbox, HD channels or anything in Full HD will amaze even the Biggest Sony Fan (take my word for it).
- 4 HDMl 1.3 ports, Digital Audio out, High Speed LCD, 4ms Response time.
- TV is very light, easily mounts on stand or wall.
- Touch of Color (ToC), is very subtle but adds style to any room.
- Regular satellite looks good, use S-Video for Sat. instead of AV cables.
- Also Amazon shipped it within a week, and also the price dropped and l recieved a refund for the difference in the price.
The Cons of this TV,
- Has a slight glare on the screen, but my window is directly across from the TV.
- Thats it.
Basically the TV is beyond clear, l have watched a 72Op, and 1O8Op Sony for 3-4 years and my new Samsung blows it out of the water. lf you are at all apprehensive about purchasing this TV online then don't be. 1O8Op looks astounding, and a very reasonable price for the Product.
