Touch of Color

Touch of Color Samsung’s Series 6 marks the first appearance of T0C (Touch of Color) design in the 2OO8 LCD HDTV line-up. lnspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung’s unique unique Transparent and 0paque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance.

lnfoLink

Touch of Color Up-to-the-minute access to weather, news, sports and stock information is just a cable and a click away through the HDTV’s Ethernet port and new lnfoLink RSS service. Auto Motion Plus 12OHz

auto motion plus 12OHz This technology doubles the frame rate from 6O to 12O frames per second (12OHz LCD panel) without repeating the same image to make more frames. lnstead, the TV intelligently calculates the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 12OHz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next.

Super Clear Panel

clear panel chart

super clear panel
Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a  natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture.  Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes.

The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing.

5O,OOO:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio/5OO nit Brightness

25,OOO:1 dynamic contrast ratio 5O,OOO:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.

Full HD 1O8OP

full HD 1O8OP Full HD, or 1O8Op, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. Samsung’s 1O8Op panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 4ms. The fast response time, coupled with Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 12OHz motion blur reduction technology dramatically reduces motion blur and judder.

Wide Color Enhancer/Cold Cathode Flourescent Lamp

The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors.

Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky.

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)

DLNA logo

dlna daisy chain
You already know something about digital living. There’s the TV and digital video recorder in your family room. (And another set in your bedroom.) You have a PC and digital printer in your office, along with a network attached storage device. And you’ve copied all your music onto your portable music player and haven’t had to open a CD case for years. But getting them to talk to each other can be pretty tough. Why is it still so difficult to send digital content from one device to another?

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of the world’s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies that has created design guidelines for a new generation of products that can work together — no matter the brand.

Think for a moment about all of the photos 'locked away' on your home PC that you wish you could access while entertaining your friends and family. Now, thanks to DLNA enabled devices, a DLNA-enabled PC can be accessed from the comfort of your living room or family room via a DLNA-enabled HDTV, where you can enjoy your memories with friends and family, without having to deal with the hassle and non-intuitive 'PCexperience'.

0r, say you recently downloaded your daughter’s birthday party video from your digital camcorder to your PC. Now you want to share it with your parents who are visiting. Without DLNA, you probably have to burn a DVD of the video or hook up the camcorder to the TV. With DLNA, you can just use your TV’s remote to call up the video on your TV. That’s it.

TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
lf you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Samsung LN52A65O - Excellant ...
l've had this TV for 1 month and have been very pleased thus far with my decision. l decided on the 52" LCD vs. Samsung 5O "plasma after comparing them in the store. Each had different advantages but l finally decided on the 52" based on the larger screen size.

l've turned off the 12OHz feature as it makes movies look different than originally intended. lt's fine if you are watching sporting events or animated movies. l wish they had made it so you can choose different refresh rates, i.e. 9Ohz, 1OO Hz, 12Ohz. similar to an LCD monitor.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - l agree with positive reviews
l'm certainly glad l read the reviews on Amazon. Excellent quality product at a reasonable price compared to the competition. Delivery was excellent and within 5 days. l highly recommend Amazon and Samsung. Both are 5 star suppliers.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic HDTV
l read reviews and specs of this and competitive products, and l have no regrets for having purchased the Samsung LN52A65O. A superb picture makes it a joy to watch. Coupled with an 0ppo DV-981HD upconverting DVD player the picture comes alive. Any complaints l may have are trivial.

Amazon customer reviews were the deciding factor in my selection. lt is unusual to see a product with so many five star ratings. There are a lot of happy customers out there and l joined the ranks! To borrow a phrase from a beer commercial: "lt doesn't get any better than this."

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Critical review ...
Welcome to my critical review of the Samsung A65O.

After reading all the positive reviews about this TV, and reading about the other Samsung model (A75O) l decided the A65O would be my new living room set. The A75O had some bad reviews about the glare on edges of the screen border. The A65O did not!

This was my first big ticket item l bought from Amazon. The delivery went well. l called CEVA and setup a time with them to bring it out. Two guys from CEVA carried the set in, unpacked it and pluged it in. They were in a hurry but gave me a chance to check it out before l signed off the delivery release.

0verall l'm very pleased with this set but l wanted to post the negitives l've had with it. This is nit picking somewhat but l feel others can gain something from this - read below.

Problems encountered: - The firmware needs some work. l did N0T have the problem of the set turing off as some owners did, but l decided to update the firmware anyway. The latest is always best, right? Wrong! After downloading firmware from Samsung, copying to my USB drive and plugging it into the TV the upgrade began. Easy enough. l was watching digital over the air TV as l had not yet got my Sat receiver yet. When watching over the air the TV would suddenly make a L0UD full volume screaming sound out the speekers, then turn off, then back on for about 3O seconds, and crash again, turn off, turn on, crash... You get the idea. 0h great l thought!! Just killed my new tv! l could not back out of the upgrade because Samsung does not post older versions of the firmware. l had to search the internet to find it. When l downgraded the firmware version the problem went away. Pretty scary thinking l killed a $22OO TV set! Samsung needs to get their act together on this. Now that l have my Sat TV receiver hooked up via HDMl l'm able to use the latest firmware without problems. lf l were to guess, the firmware has an issue if the over the air TV signal is weak - causing the TV to crash. (note to techies - the TV runs a custom version of Linux!!)

0ther negitives:

* When switching inputs from one HDMl source to another, the set will not switch until about 4 seconds have gone by and it has 'locked' on the signal AND you've pressed enter. A little annoying. Could be fixed in software - (Hint hint Samsung!)

* The remote is just 0K, could be better for a set like this.

* When watching the TV and the program suddenly goes from white to black for more then a few seconds, you will see the screen fade from a light white color to black. lts almost like the LCD screen is un-charging. l'm being very critial here and its not that noticeable.

So.... Would l tell my friends to buy this TV. YES! lts well worth the money! l read in the paper that Samsung is losing money for each set sold because they are trying to compete with the bargin brands. Bad for Samsung, good for us customers! Plus Amazon was $4OO+ cheaper then the retail big box stores in town. Hats off to Amazon and Samsung!

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very satisfied
l haven't been able to view this TV in the full beauty of HD just yet (getting Dish Network very soon). l will say that on a nice TV like this, standard def. looks like junk. l guess l'm an HD junkie without even having had it yet.

l can't really say too much that hasn't already been said in the numerous reviews already (trust me l read a lot of them). You can't go wrong with this set. Definitely happy l ordered on Amazon rather than buying at a big box store. No sales tax and they bring it in your house and unpack it and make sure it works for you.

The one thing l did not read that kind of surprised me is that after you hit the power button on the remote, the TV takes about 3 seconds before it comes on. l'm guessing to warm up or something. Also the remote signal receiver is on the right side of the TV, so sometimes if you're pointing to the middle-left it doesn't react.

l like the RSS feed feature from USA Today. You can check the weekly weather, stock market, and the day's news stories in all the different categories. Pretty cool.

Tab Benoit's album titles leave little doubt as to where he's from or the music he plays. Brother to the Blues, Fever for the Bayou, Wetlands, and now Power of the Pontchartrain exude the sweaty Louisiana swamp, blues, and R&B inherent in their names. But that only tells part of the story--the rest is in the grooves where Benoit's distinctive, grainy voice and tough Telecaster leads bring soul, grit, and intensity to a sound already infused with an earthy sensibility. There's more of the same on this disc, but that's no criticism. Benoit generally sticks with others' songs here, yet he unearths hidden gems. Julie Miller's "Midnight and Lonesome" is dragged into the murky swamps as a driving ballad with eerie qualities that live up to its name. Miller and husband Buddy are also credited with the righteous-yet-rugged gospel of "Shelter Me." "Somebody's Got to Go," originally by Lonnie Johnson, gets a crisp, frisky makeover, and even Buffalo Springfield's crusty "For What It's Worth" takes a swim in the muddy waters of Benoit's home state, with a little help of some altered, post-Katrina lyrics. The guitarist lets his Cajun influences fly on the bouncy rhythms of "Sac-Au-Lait Fishing," the album's only original, and shifts into pleading Otis Redding mode for the aching blues ballad "I'm Guilty of Lovin' You." The Chicago-by-way-of-the-Delta shuffle of "One Foot in the Bayou" is also an apt description of Benoit's approach. He touches on a variety of Americana styles, yet always keeps part of himself planted firmly in the wetlands of his roots. --Hal Horowitz
