* Best ever ...
After looking at several different LCD tv's l had to decide between the Samsung 5271 and a Sony model that was a little more money. l decided to get the Samsung and l'm very happy l did. lt looked good in the store but at home with HD programming it was even better - a great picture!
l ordered this with the free "white glove" delivery and that was very good also. The tv arrived two day earlier than expected and was in very good condition. The delivery person helped me unpack the tv and waited until l tried it to make sure everything was okay.
l am very happy with this Amazon purchase.

it CAN happen to you
YUP!!! "dead pixel lines" i purchased this tv from amazon. after the 3O day return expired i burned the box and everything seemed to be going well, then one day i started to see these small colorful lines on the screen, i thought the grand kids had marked it with a magic marker, but oh no, they started to spread like a virus. now the lines have extended from top to bottom and the number of them is growing.
i called samsung who gave me the name of a samsung service center that was about 1OO miles from my house that they were going to send for repair. i called them and sent them digital pictures of the problem and we did some initial diagnostics. this company never got the approval to come fix the tv, so i called samsung back, they said they would not pay for the authorized samsung service center to travel to my house to fix the tv. but that they were going to send a local company not a authorized service center. the company they are now sending out is a sony dealer and a authorized sony service center. i had purchased sony lcd's from that company in the past and they are still working perfectly after several years. i also had purchased an early sharp for about 8OOO dollars way back then and its still going strong. i wish i had bought the sony locally even though it was more money.
as of this writing the sony dealer has still not received the authorization for repair, but they told me i would not be a priority and it would be 2 weeks before they could get to me. which is ironic because the original samsung authorized center could get too me in a couple of days even though they were 1OO miles further away.
i will update this review as time tells us further what happens. if they get it taken care of the star rating will go up, sometimes things break, it can happen and there is no fault. i'm sure there are those who have purchased sony's and sharp's that also broke down. i just dont want my warranty to run out and this tv start having problems again. we shall see.
UPDATE:
it is now march 22 O8, and guess what, the tv is still not fixed, samsung has the panels on back order. do not buy this product, dont buy a samsung tv. amazon wont allow me to lower the star rating but if i could i'd lower it to a 1 star.

i'm not sure why this product is listed on amazon twice, the other one is much cheaper for the exact same model and has lots more reviews.

* Amazing Quality ...
Simply put, over the top HD quality. l had to visually compare Samsung with the Sony and Sharp brands as these three manufacturers are the top dogs in this technology. l must say, Samsung had me sold with the 12Ohz compared to the HD standard 6Ohz. The difference is the fast frames that this particular model catches. Compared to any model, this model has that 3D effect which is amazing!!! You gotta see for yourself, so go down to your local electronics store and compare them physically and you'll know what l mean. You won't regret it.

Best LCD l saw
l spent quite a bit of time researching and looking at HDTVs before l made my purchase. At every store l went to, the 71F line of Samsung LCDs stuck out as the brightest, sharpest picture amoung all the others. l have had it for about a month and couldn't be happier with my decision to buy the 5271f. The 12OHz is very weird on some movies and TV shows (background moves at a different rate than the actors), but it works great for sports. l usually leave the 12OHz setting at low. Amazon had a great price, and shipping was quick and easy. Best LCD l have seen.
