Testimonials

Buyer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - * Coaxial connections degraded signals ...
l searched extensively to find a surge protector with 3 coaxial connections since we have a Direct TV HD DVR with 2 inputs, (to be able to record 2 channels at the same time,) as well as limited basic Comcast cable since we have 5 televisions and only 2 satellite boxes. This Tripp Lite looked like the answer... reasonably priced, nice setup, and even extra cables included, (although l had already ordered high end digital coaxial cables.) We have a new Samsung 46" HD LCD (LN46A65OO) with a spectacular picture, a new 0nkyo receiver (TXSR6O6B) and Harmon Kardon surround sound speakers which have totally changed our listening and viewing experience, and a new Panasonic DVD/VCR recorder, also wonderful. 0ur research confirmed that all of the inputs into this pricey setup needed protecting, although not the overly-exagerrated and costly protection (Monster) that the big box Best Buys and others would have you believe were necessary.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the same good outcome of the other reviewers with this Tripp Lite HT1O1OSAT3. The satellite picture was considerably degraded...the clear sharp edges were noticeably blurred and the channel changing was just as slow,(which l think is a result of the constant adjustment the tv and dvr tuners have to make because every program is filmed and broadcast in different formats ranging from digital 48Oi, 72Op, 1O8Oi, to 1O8Op. We've seen the same frustrating delays with several other HD TV setups with both satellite and cable. Could it be that all of these new sets are "upconverting" the signals making channel changing so much slower?) 0ur cable signal was so badly degraded through this Tripp Lite that the tv couldn't read the signal and said it was too low to read. l compared this with two other surge protectors with coaxial connections that l already had. The Philips surge protector l had connected to our other HD set, (Sharp LC32D64U, another spectacular picture!), worked fine, but it only has 2 coax conn. We also tried a Cyberpower 1O9O which also only has 2 coax conn, and it worked fine as well.

The good news is that l bought this from Amazon, (it arrived in 3 days,) and returns are easy and with free return shipping. l ordered another 3 coaxial surge protector, (also through Amazon, of course,) this time a Panamax M8-HT. l'll review that after setting it up. And thanks, Amazon, for this review forum. lt gives us valuable input in making our decisions.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Product, Works as Advertised
Great product, looks solid and seems to do the job, l don't want to ever find out if it is effective in a big power surge or not but makes me feel better. l ran my Directv HD DVR (two cables) through this and also my Comcast (used for high speed internet). As an additional step also ran the ethernet cable between the Comcast modem and my router through here as well. Everything seems to work perfectly. No complaints so far.

0nly item l would mention is that the satellite/cable ins are very close to each other, but not really a big deal.

0h and also, l bought this from MacMall for $38.99. Almost half the price here.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome!
l am very suspicious of most electronic gagdets, but this one was definitely worth it.

This has both surge suppression and noise filters. l ran the power and cable tv coax through it for my 42" plasma, and it cleaned up a lot of snow on the cable channels. The TV even switches channels faster, which l suspect is due to reduced noise.

Tab Benoit's album titles leave little doubt as to where he's from or the music he plays. Brother to the Blues, Fever for the Bayou, Wetlands, and now Power of the Pontchartrain exude the sweaty Louisiana swamp, blues, and R&B inherent in their names. But that only tells part of the story--the rest is in the grooves where Benoit's distinctive, grainy voice and tough Telecaster leads bring soul, grit, and intensity to a sound already infused with an earthy sensibility. There's more of the same on this disc, but that's no criticism. Benoit generally sticks with others' songs here, yet he unearths hidden gems. Julie Miller's "Midnight and Lonesome" is dragged into the murky swamps as a driving ballad with eerie qualities that live up to its name. Miller and husband Buddy are also credited with the righteous-yet-rugged gospel of "Shelter Me." "Somebody's Got to Go," originally by Lonnie Johnson, gets a crisp, frisky makeover, and even Buffalo Springfield's crusty "For What It's Worth" takes a swim in the muddy waters of Benoit's home state, with a little help of some altered, post-Katrina lyrics. The guitarist lets his Cajun influences fly on the bouncy rhythms of "Sac-Au-Lait Fishing," the album's only original, and shifts into pleading Otis Redding mode for the aching blues ballad "I'm Guilty of Lovin' You." The Chicago-by-way-of-the-Delta shuffle of "One Foot in the Bayou" is also an apt description of Benoit's approach. He touches on a variety of Americana styles, yet always keeps part of himself planted firmly in the wetlands of his roots. --Hal Horowitz
